Mexico’s Defense Secretary, Ricardo Trevilla, announced that Mexican forces killed Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as El Mencho, during a military operation in Jalisco.

Speaking at the “Conferencia del Pueblo” press conference in Mexico City, Trevilla stated that Mexican security forces carried out the operation after obtaining key intelligence regarding the cartel leader’s location. Officials made the announcement during a briefing, and portions of it have already circulated publicly.

Intelligence Operation in Tapalpa

Trevilla said authorities tracked El Mencho’s whereabouts after his romantic partner visited him at cabins in Tapalpa, Jalisco. The information reportedly allowed security forces to pinpoint the area and launch a coordinated operation.

The Defense Secretary said Mexican forces conducted the mission with U.S. intelligence support, highlighting cross-border cooperation to combat organized crime.

Multiple CJNG Members Reportedly Killed

Trevilla confirmed that Mexican forces killed El Mencho during the raid along with several members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). However, authorities have not yet released detailed operational footage, casualty breakdowns, or forensic confirmation.
