The France freezer babies case has stunned residents of Aillevillers-et-Lyaumont in eastern France after police uncovered the bodies of two newborn infants inside a household freezer and arrested a woman in connection with the d#aths.

Police began the investigation after a man contacted authorities on Tuesday. He reported that he had discovered what appeared to be the body of a newborn baby inside a freezer at his home. Officers secured the property and conducted a detailed search of the appliance. During the forensic examination, they found the remains of a second infant stored in another bag inside the same freezer.

Investigators traced a woman in her 50s who had previously lived at the property. Authorities located and arrested her later that night in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris, roughly 300 kilometers from the town where officers made the discovery. Police transported her back to Haute-Saône for questioning.

Confession and Ongoing Investigation

Besançon prosecutor Cédric Logelin confirmed that the woman admitted during questioning that she gave birth to the infants at home and placed their bodies in the freezer shortly afterward. She told investigators that she concealed her pregnancies from people around her and delivered the babies alone.

Authorities believe the births occurred sometime between 2011 and 2018. The suspect reportedly struggled to provide exact dates during multiple interviews but acknowledged that she was the mother of both infants.

At the early stage of the investigation, officers questioned the homeowner, who had been at work when the first body was discovered. Detectives later shifted their focus to the woman following emerging evidence.

The discovery shocked the small community of fewer than 1,500 residents. Local officials confirmed that police secured the area while forensic teams carried out examinations.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths as the suspect remains in custody.
